Welcome to Branchville High School
I'm thrilled to be a part of the BHS Family this year! I'm looking forward to teaching Government and Economics and U.S. History this school year, and I'm looking forward to getting to know my new students!
I have been teaching since January of 1989, and before that I was a long-term substitute Art teacher, which is really what inspired me to make teaching my career!
I graduated from Presbyterian College with a degree in Art and Religion, and after getting married in 1986, I returned to school to earn my Master of Arts in Teaching History and Social Studies (The Citadel, 1989). I taught Elementary Art for 8 and a half years, and I taught Middle School Social Studies for 9 years. I have since moved up to High School and have remained at the HS level for 10 years! At one time I taught some of the same children for FIVE separate years!
I truly love my students like my own children, and I love to keep up with them even after they have finished grade school!
I am a member of the SC Geographic Alliance, the SC Council for the Social Studies, and an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma. I have been married for 30 years, and I have 3 children and a new daughter-in-law who is also a teacher! My husband and I live on a farm in Colleton County, and we love all that the Lowcountry outdoors have to offer!
